Terms of Service

Effective and last updated: July 20, 2026

These terms govern your use of Fretline. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.

01

Using Fretline

Fretline is a private guitar songbook and practice service with song organization, chord tools, AI-assisted search and editing, offline access, and optional public sharing. You may use the Service only if you can legally enter into this agreement. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or guardian must review and accept these terms for you.

02

Your account

You must provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account and should notify us promptly if you believe it has been compromised. If you use Google Sign-In, your use of Google's service is also governed by Google's applicable terms and policies.

03

Your content and permissions

You retain ownership of original content you create. You grant Fretline a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, process, format, synchronize, and display your content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to carry out actions you request, including generating an active public share.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed for content you submit, import, or share. Song lyrics, tablature, compositions, recordings, and arrangements may be protected by copyright or other rights. Fretline does not grant you permission to copy, distribute, perform, or publicly share third-party content. You are responsible for using such material lawfully.

04

Private libraries and public sharing

Your library is private by default. When you intentionally create a public link, anyone who obtains that link can view and copy the shared version without signing in. A public link may continue circulating after you revoke it, although revocation prevents future access through Fretline. Do not share content you do not have the right to make public or information you consider confidential.

05

AI and search features

Fretline uses automated systems and third-party AI or search services. Generated chords, lyrics, attribution, tempo, music theory explanations, links, and other output may be incomplete, inaccurate, unavailable, or inappropriate. Verify important output before relying on it. AI output is provided for general informational and creative assistance and is not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.

You must not use the AI features to violate law, infringe rights, bypass access controls, generate malware, exploit the Service, or facilitate harmful or deceptive activity.

06

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service unlawfully or infringe intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights.
  • Upload malicious code or probe, disrupt, overload, or bypass Service security.
  • Access another person's account or non-public data without authorization.
  • Scrape, resell, or systematically extract the Service or its databases.
  • Automate requests in a way that exceeds published limits or harms other users.
  • Misrepresent generated content, public links, or your relationship with Fretline.
  • Use the Service to distribute spam, abuse, harassment, or illegal content.

07

Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties for authentication, hosting, databases, AI processing, web search, and linked content. Third-party services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party websites, content, availability, or actions, and a link or search result does not imply endorsement.

08

Availability, offline use, and changes

We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue parts of Fretline. We do not promise that the Service or any particular song, provider, AI model, search result, offline copy, or public link will always be available. Offline features work only for eligible data successfully downloaded to a supported device and may require reconnection to synchronize changes. Maintain your own copies of content you cannot afford to lose.

09

Plans, credits, and payments

Some features may be subject to quotas, credits, paid plans, or provider costs. Any price, renewal period, usage allowance, refund rule, and applicable tax will be disclosed before a purchase. Except where law requires otherwise, consumed usage credits and completed billing periods are non-refundable.

10

Suspension and termination

You may stop using Fretline at any time. We may restrict or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, create legal or security risk, fail to pay applicable fees, or misuse the Service. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export eligible data. Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms—will remain effective.

11

Copyright concerns

If you believe content available through a Fretline public share infringes your rights, send a notice identifying the protected work, the specific public URL, your contact information, and a good-faith statement explaining the issue. We may remove or disable access to disputed content and may terminate repeat infringers where appropriate.

12

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fretline is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all express and implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fretline and its operator, affiliates, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost content, profits, revenue, goodwill, or data. Our total liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Fretline during the 12 months before the claim or USD $100. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

14

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Fretline, its operator, and their affiliates from claims and expenses arising from your content, your unlawful or unauthorized use of the Service, or your material breach of these terms.

15

Governing terms

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the Fretline operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, while preserving any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law where you live. Before filing a formal claim, each party agrees to try to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. These terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement about the Service unless separate written terms apply.

16

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as Fretline evolves. We will post the revised terms, update the date above, and provide additional notice when required. Continuing to use the Service after the revised terms take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. Questions and legal notices can be sent to legal@fretline.app.
